Neon Tetra

By JanieB43
Just for fun. Bored, with nothing to do ! I have digressed from the birds - now my fish tank has caught my eye ! Thought I would test my new polarizing filter without getting my feet wet. This is one of my neons very kindly posing for me this afternoon.

Thanks for looking.

Beautiful composition, but the fish is not in focus.

Hiya Janie. I've been taking photos of my dads marine fish and corals. Here's something I've found - you've got to keep your camera square to the tank glass. Seems like the only way to get sharp photos. Probably due to difraction through the glass or something? I've never tried using my polarizer. Does it make a difference?

Thanks for the tip - as far as the polarizer's concerned , I think so - it seems to cut out a lot of the glare/reflection.

Well posed, Jane...not the easiest subject to photograph. I've tried this and you need to get the front of the lens right up to the glass to reduce reflections - I've never used a polarizer, and it's worked for me. The only problem I've found is getting the %&*$("! fish to keep still!
