Never Forget . Tears of an elephant.

By UrbaneMagick
Taken at Chitwan National Park , Nepal.

Only on post processing did I notice the tear to the left of the elephants eye.

I stayed three days at Chitwan, the whole experience was magical, including the Elephant ride into the jungle.

However, at the end of the ride, you walk through to the elephant breeding centre... which is saddening to say the least .

The mother elephant is chained just out of reach of its young.

At six months old, it is put into "training", this basically means crushing the spirit out of the baby elephant..some simply die from being too strong willed. the final part of the process is they burn them with fire.

The information centre at the elephant breeding centre states these facts quite proudly.... I'm now quite ashamed to have been part of the process :-(

I'll visit Chitwan again, but never take part in the elephant tourism trap ... saddening :-(

Thought provoking image and a write up that saddened me.
The excellent mono treatment suits the subject and sentiment very well Gareth.
