New Old Dutch Master

By conrad
As I mentioned on one of my previous uploads from the same outing, I think this is the kind of thing the old Dutch masters would have liked to have painted. They valued their skies, and I think that's the most important part of this shot, too.

Anyway - comments and mods welcome, as always!

In the spirit of the critique the person above:-
The sky is the most exciting part of the shot and the colour combination of blue and yellow is always pleasing but beyond that I'm finding it hard to find anything to focus on. My eye tends to wander around the image looking for a focal point. The foreground trees help but are not sufficiently exciting to hold my interest except for the way one tree second right appears to be growing out of the top of another.
It also looks somewhat oversharpened, particularly notieable along the tree line.
I find it interesting that ten people have voted but not one has found anything to comment on.

Ah, thanks, Penny, glad someone made a comment! Looking at again, I think you might at least be right about the sharpening. I'm still having a hard time understanding why the settings I use normally and which hardly ever give me bad results will on some images make them look overprocessed. Oh well. I had better pay more attention in future, instead of just doing what I normally do, keeping in mind that this won't always work. I get your remarks about a focal point, although this never seemed to bother the old Dutch masters much! Wink

This is part of the Veluwe, Nat, just above Rozendaal (north of Arnhem).
