Newfoundland 2

By JimV
Sorry for not keeping my promise that our next stop would be the St. John's area, but I later realised I was taking you away from Cape Spear without showing the two most prominent features there, namely the lighthouses, both old and newer, while my second shot taking looking up the coast beyond Signal Hill, shows the actual most east point of North America in the foreground.

Many thanks for looking at these and previous uploads, all very much appreciated, more so if you also voted and commented Smile

Better large + F11!

Good morning, Jim,
Two very different and interesting shots from a part of the world that seldom features on this site, and therefore all the more interesting for that alone. Both shots are so well captured and I particularly like V 1 featuring both old and new lighthouses.

Should have mentioned the other buildings are the inevitable gift shop and an interpretive centre, which didn't open until mid June, about 3 weeks later.

Good morning Jim,

As Ronnie has said above, it's very interesting to see images from a part of the world very rarely featured. Two great images, beautiful coastline, well done indeed.

Chris

PS. Thanks for your comment - I had simular years ago when I used to breed persian cats and win at the shows - it was always, what comb, what shampoo do you use ? As if it was as simple as that !

So very "Newfie". The light house shot is especially alluring and gives hints of the isolation of this place.

Re: Ronnie and Chris---How very interesting to see images of places I have visited!---both beautifully done and much appreciated!

If I were going to sil to Ireland, I would hike to New Foundland and build a boat!

Hi Jim,
Here I am working my way backwards, again trying to catch up Smile
I wish I could be sitting on one of those rocks in v2. It is so hot here, and some ocean breezes would be welcome about now. The colour of the grass in v1 pretty much is what the vegetation is starting to look like here. Isn't fall just around the corner??
I enjoyed the large view here, and especially for the comparison of the two lighthouses, and the people giving scale to the place.

Two superb views of the rugged coastline, it looks very remote and you've conveyed that so well in these pics

Two very interesting shots of this seldom seen area. Do they allow visitors into the lighthouse? It seems so barren...not what I thought it would look like at all!
Marie
Another brilliant pair of images.

Connor.
