Night and Day Sculptures, Mersey Tunnel Air Shaft

By jcolind
Night and Day statues - Georges Dock Mersey Tunnel Offices and Ventilation shaft. Each statue resides in its own fluted niche on the west fašade of the building. They are intended to be symbols of the never-closing Mersey Tunnel. They are the work of Edmund C. Thompson and are polished black basalt. They were once stolen and recovered from a flat in the city. The reflection is of the Port of Liverpool Building.
