Night Games

By MrsS
Got out at last!

Paul had a 'heads-up' that there was a steam gala weekend at the East Lancashire Railway this weekend - - and since you don't have to have gr8 light we wandered along.

Had a super time, and were told that there was going to be a "Night Shoot", where they would set up engines for the delight of the assembled toggers.

This turned out to be a total non-event as far as Paul and I were concerned! You set up for your shot - - a nice 30sec or so exposure and hit the shutter release to then watch as 'considerate' other toggers wandered into shot and set off flash after flash! Some were even using red-eye reduction flash - - like the engines really needed that! Tongue

Made us realise how nice you lot on EPZ are! At least no-one wanders into your shot, or at least checks if you are set up b4 wandering in front of you, and wouldn't be using flash to try and capture an entire steam engine.

Hence the title - - it was a real game to try and get a decent shot! (I took Paul home before he decked someone!) Rant over! Thanks for listening!!

Anyway, here's one that turned out not too bad. (Well I think so, at any rate) Wink

30sec @ f8 ISO100 f/l 26mm tripod and shutter release.

Thanks for looking - - off to do my weekend chores now, since they didn't get done yesterday.

Enjoy Sunday, hope you're having fabulous weather and getting loooaaaddds of fabulous shots! Smile

Cheers
Fran x

I know you wouldn't - - but there were FAR too many folks who were giving you plenty of reason! I might've been tempted myself, if we'd stayed much longer! Tongue

You managed a great shot Fran! well done.
I've never heard of photo sessions for steam trains! What a great idea! ... and they don't charge by the hour!
Some people are unbelieveable aren't they? But I suppose they'd gone along with a compact camera which wouldn't work without the flash?
