No bandages!

By cattyal
Experimenting again tonight - this time using a few layers, channel mixer on one, noise removal, textures - just about everything. There is a method in my madness and I did figure out what I'd been thinking about during the day today.

However I've not quite got the result I was looking for with the finished image but the getting there has been a useful exercise.

Total honesty here - S'lovely (cos it's you), BUT when I first looked at the pic, the border makes you look like you've got horribly burned skin at the bottom. Which is probably bad.

Well I've just put up a variant that I was going to upload where I'd removed the texture from my person. It didn't seem quite right either - and that's where I'm getting stuck Smile

I like honesty - as long as no-one says I'm pug ugly (I'd probably cry) !

Hi No 2 for me i like the plain look. I like the look in your eyes and the way your mouth is just open. You are not ugly in any way at all far from it.
Nick.

Thanks folks - whilst I didn't quite get the effect I was after it's proved a useful experiment this evening. The main aim was simply to experiment with the channel mixer and then I kinda got out of control Smile

Thanks for the mod Michael - not that far off another version I'd contemplated but as usual couldn't make up my mind!

As for me being ugly - ok, I'm just fishing for compliments - I'm not proud Smile

I've just uploaded an old shot - taken by another photographer I hasten to say - that proves I can smile for the camera - just not when I'm doing self portraits!

Yes Like this - agree, I think, about the texture comming through on your torso - unless of course you're trying to suggest decay - can't see that in the shot though - so reckon it's better without ........

Thanks again everyone. I think both mods are a considerable improvement on my original upload and that's great to see. Either even more texture as with Dave's mod or more contrast with Michaels without the texture.

I wish I could claim that No3 was a self portrait - I'd even impress myself if that was the case Smile A bit goofy the more I look at it but I still think he did an excellent job!

It's not bad to see you without the bandages sometimes, shocking the people a bit that there is no monster under them Smile Doesn't have a clue what goofy means but I think most people would agree you need the bandages just to make the pics a bit more interesting and unusual not because you would be "pug ugly". You should smile a bit more often, suits you! Just like when you have the cheesy thingy from tesco Smile))

I love no.3
It is so natural and full of fun and character.

As for the textured shots, I prefer no.1 because the texture continues over you and it looks more 'complete'
