This aircraft is located at The Dumfries Aviation Museum...It was flown by Capt. John M. Haley and maintained by S/Sgt Richard Maier from the 174th Tactical Fighter Squadron, 185 Tactical Fighter Group, Iowa Air national Guard, during the Vietnam War...The 174th earned a reputation for it's dangerous, low level, night missions over the jungles of Vietnam, and because of these night missions, the unit chose the call sign "Bat"...The 174th was known for being on time and on target, to ther extent that ground forces desperately in need of air support at night, would ask for the "Bats"
