Northern Mockingbird I

By glazzaro
I have three photos of a Mockingbird that I took last week, all with interesting poses. So this will be one of three over the next couple of nights. Please feel free to comment. I know the last two Cardinal pictures were not up to snuff, but I pulled them out of the archives from 8 months past just to have something to post. If the shots are bad please feel free to let me know, I, just like you learn from critiques. Thank you all for your comments and friendship! Everyone has been great, and keep the emails coming, I do answer.

Another bird we don't see here in the UK, Greg.
A great close up image, sharp with nice colours. Well taken.
The only thing that bugs me is that the composition seems 'out of balance'. Perhaps a bit more room in front of the bird would even it out.
Can you see what I mean or am I talking rubbish???

Amazing detail and clarity Greg, well done. I have a lens with similar focal length (Canon 90-300mm USM) and attempted to capture some birds. Unfortunalety, I never get the satisfied results. Could you please give me the technical detail for this photo? Thanks Smile

Nice pose, excellent BG. Composition a little too tight as cameraman pointed out, perhaps. Otherwise an excellent image/capture.

Thank you Su and Cameraman for you comments, I agree I may have crop to close, still trying to learn the trade. Tomorrows post is the same bird, different pose. See if I got the crop corretly. Thank you again.

Nice bird study, - Ive never seen one of these.

The post seems a little overcooked, but the bird seems not quite sharp enough, - could be my eyes (its late) or monitor, - its an LCD.

I may try my hand at a mod.

Greg I've been following your works on the different birds and its becoming more and more obvious that you have this strange energy with these birds because they all appear to look you right in the eye/ lens...

Is there some bird talk going on when taking these shots or do you chalk it up to a patient skilled click..?

I like the shot and to put it plan, these birds really look as though you've called there names in prep for the shot...

Hey birdie, look this way. click... thx and nice flying... Smile

Keep sharing because your shots gives off a feel of peace...

Great shot Greg, don't agree woth your comment on the Cardinals, i liked them. This is really clear and sharp, I like the crop but can see where cameraman is coming from, but it depends on what you had in the front of the bird to start with? Look forward to the others. Keep em coming. Cheers Chris - CLICK -

This is really good, the muted background colours go well with the bird portrait. As for the bird itself, it's so sharp and clear. Excellent!

Watcha Greg,
excellent pic, comments about the close crop on the left may be valid, the bird may be a little squashed in, but, good shot just the same.
Blue marlin then, I didn't know you had to go to Aussie for them, I thought they roamed around the west coast.

Excellent DOF Greg The bird really stands out, and the colours are great.
Later this month I'm looking at getting a macro lens, possibly the Sigma 105mm f2.8 EX DG auto-focus. Do you have any experience with this lens?
