Despite the most basic of living quarters, this person has kept their home clean and tidy, has decorated the walls with pictures, and even displays what looks like a greetings card or personal note underneath the TV. Despite poverty, I feel this person has pride and grace.

Tells a great story without the people being there.

I call pictures like this 'absent portraits' - so much of the story is told by the environment and possessions.

This is where a civilised person lives, I think. Someone like you and me (on my better days, anyway).

We forget how much we have, and how much of that we don't need.
A very different world but also very familiar.

Stunning composition and as has been said by others this person takes a real pride in their possessions such as they are.
All the narrative is there.

I'm drawn to the Buddhas in this, all of the person's treasures and set out like an altar of love, of what helps them get by.

Excellent Si.

I feel you can tell a lot about the 'absent' figure just by studying the image, Si. A stroke of genius to leave them out of this portrait, for that is what it is.
