Not Pretty...yet Interesting

By tonyguitar
This is the Courtenay River in a swollen condition. A soccer field beyond the green is now a lake and the kids have been chasing Chum salmon around in shallow water. The Chum are migrating and spawning now. WA tends to exaggerate somewhat Makes the river seem a little wider than it really is. Still the idea is to convey that it is very high and starting to over flow.

It's getting very scary. In Port Alberni especially.

Our flood zone is very small compared to most places. I Hope Port Alberni is able to manage the heavy downpour coming to them. TG

PS: This is a happy time for the gulls, eagles and turkey vultures. The seals have left a lot of ripped up Chum Salmon in the flow and on the river banks. TG
