Not just a statistic

I apologies in advance should this disturb you in any way.

The shot was taken back in June 2018 at cross bones London https://crossbones.org.uk/https://crossbones.org.uk/. I have dithered over whether or not to publish it but perhaps at this time of year it's a reminder that for some joy in life is hard to find. True or not our intuition says suicide is more likely in winter. What we do know is 2018 saw a significant increase (initial figures suggest that there'll be no real change in 2019) which started before changes to standards of proof Maughan, R v Senior Coroner for Oxfordshire 2018. For those of you who are interested the highest rate in the UK was in Scotland (it had been declining) then Wales. In England Both the North East and Yorkshire and the Humber had a statistically higher suicide rate than the average. For detailed stats see ONS site.

Once again I apologies if this has caused distress, that was not my intent

It is clearly not your intention to offend and the message is one that we should all be aware of at all times of the year.

A much loved member of our community committed suicide a couple of weeks ago, the sense of Why? is overwhelming, as is Could we have done anything? Desperately sad.
