I have dithered over whether or not to publish it but perhaps at this time of year it's a reminder that for some joy in life is hard to find. True or not our intuition says suicide is more likely in winter. What we do know is 2018 saw a significant increase (initial figures suggest that there'll be no real change in 2019) which started before changes to standards of proof Maughan, R v Senior Coroner for Oxfordshire 2018. For those of you who are interested the highest rate in the UK was in Scotland (it had been declining) then Wales. In England Both the North East and Yorkshire and the Humber had a statistically higher suicide rate than the average. For detailed stats see ONS site.
