Not Like That!

By woolybill1
No visit to Durham is complete without a stroll by the river, normally encompassing a crossing of Prebends' Bridge. Our recent visit was on a rather grey, gloomy day (but not really dull and murky like this morning), so the view from the bridge was not the greatest; however, there was a little action on the water below.

Durham University is renowned for the strength of its rowing. There is usually a college or University boat out training; this day was no exception. But I have to say that they looked like crews undergoing initial training. Below Prebends' is where I've usually seen crews practising starts; these were just trying to get started, under the guidance of the coach in the single scull.

looks like they sure need coaching as the co-ordination of the oars is terrible! (I shot a fair amount of rowers in the summer) I've not been to Durham for a long time, not a quick drive from where I am, a beautiful and underrated part of the country.

Nice ''unco-ordinated'' lines here with the oars.Like the patterns in the water.Good comp with them coming out the top corner.Good diagonals too.Unlike the rowers, this wont sink without trace.Good one Bill.

Aren't they supposed to be synchronised?
Great shot Bill, you have this ability it seems to find a shot wherever you are.

I don't know anything about this sport....but it looks like they are going backwards....Anyway very nice capture and it looks like they will have much more training ahead. Smile

Love the way you have captured the oars all at different heights, they'll be going round in circles.

I like how you have concentrated on the boats and the water without the distraction of a fussy background. It works really well.
Am still chuckling at Ian's comments.
