Novelda Town Hall

By pamelajean
Can you guess what it is from the first version?
It satisfies my love and admiration for Spanish benches and painted tiles. Here we have both, which is the frontage of the beautifully restored Novelda Town Hall in Spain. Each diamond-shaped panel is signed by the artist and, as far as I can tell, they depict the marble, saffron and wine industries of the town.
Novelda is famous as the "Spanish Capital of Marble", hosting the Spanish marble industry, and is also well known for its vineyards and large saffron fields, but it is also the site of an impressive modernist sanctuary and mind-boggling Art Nouveau museum, both of which I will show you later.
5 versions for you, showing the different panels and ending with a slightly larger view, with my partner on the bench for context, and so that you can see the size of the panels.
All taken with my little Canon compact.
Pamela.

What a good subject to build up on Pamela. Can just hear you getting the weary occupants to move while you take the shots Wink
Look forward to seeing the others.

A very artistic bit of tiling Pamela.
Good inclusion of your partner to see the scale too.
And how considerate of him to carry all your gear,
why you carry your little compact !!
Good set.

What a splendid set of mosaics, beautifully captured in these shots: difficult to choose a favourite although the figure sitting alongside one in V 5 must be a close contender.

I absolutely love the Art Nouveau style, Pamela. These are gorgeous, sharp clean regimented lines... and the scale really took me aback when I opened v5!

Great set Pamela but the one that really gets my vote is No. 5 the human interest gives it an added dimension.

What very pretty windows. I especially like V3. And so interesting the way the tiles wash over the sill. I like V5 in that it shows the context and the size of the windows. I expected them to be about 1ft square!

such beautiful tiles, and I love how they follow the contour of the wall on to the bench, colourful and artistic, and so nice and fresh and clean looking.

The tiles are wonderfully artistic and colourful without going OTT. Your selection at V1 is perfect, ably supported by the composition in V5!

Hmmm, you now have me thinking hard about comfort zones and candid photography. I am too nervous to do much candid photography, but I can see why a lot of you like V5, and have had strong words with myself about trying shots like this. I only added V5 to show you the size of the artwork, and didn't even bother to add canvas to the top and complete the panel. Must do better!
MICK: We had all our cameras stolen, hence the compact, and it's our lunch in the rucksackSmile!
CHRIS: They are tiled panels, not windows, but I can understand why you thought that.

A well photographed selection Pamela. Those panels are beautiful 'marble masterpieces'. V1 is intriguing but V5 is my choice despite the top being clipped.Smile

These are wonderful-- brings to mind some things I have learned about the stained glass windows-- bits and pieces cobbled together (and signed) to make up a whole!

Great composition in V1 using the patterns as an almost abstract, beautiful work in all panels
