Nuthatch and youngster

By HobbitDave
Five hatched, and all made it flying the nest.
Thanks to Ron and Joy, my good neighbours, it's their nestbox.
Photos taken with 1970s manual focus Sigma 600mm mirror lens.

Many thanks for the UAs on my Hoverfly, was very happy to receive quite a few, thanked by PMs.

Sorry, my fault Richard, I should have mentioned the Sigma lens was used with an adapter on Canon DSLR! It's only the lens that is in a time warp Wink
All the best,
Dave.

Fascinating the way they use mud to make the hole exactly right.
Had them nesting in the garden a few years back in a nest box like this.
A GSW tried to get at the chicks.
Along came the parent and stabbed it between the wings.
The GSW fell to the floor and then flew off.
Red in tooth and claw out there!
Good pictures.
