october sunbath for a little wasp

many thanks for you C&C on the Tobemory mist

here is a little wasp that zoomed from one late hogweed blossom to the next on the very last sunny October day . The little wasps disappeared with the last flowers.
my excuses, if it is a a fly... i must admit was torn between two species in the book and wasn't sure really. So I uploaded the second image to help... if the specialists among you have a clue

A fine macro image of an insect with which I am not familiar......looks a bit different to the wasps we have up here, Annette.
