Oh Dr Beeching

Once the trains stopped here right at the hotel platform. Yesterday's distant home" is just to the right of where I'm standing to take this shot. Memories of a bygone day.

How wonderful to be able to access the train on your doorstep.
I guess it is a hotel no more - looking at the weeds, but a lovely old building.

So convenient - though maybe a little noisy early in the morning when the milk train passed?
When Butcher Beeching made his case for closing hundreds of miles of track he was a major shareholder in a company called.....
TARMAC. Coincidence?
Cheers

I do believe this is Bideford, North Devon. in which case, this is the rear of The Royal Hotel on what is now The Tarka Trail, originally the railway line from Exeter to Barnstaple. Good pic.
