Oh yeah....THAT'S the spot...a hummer having a good scratch!

By maxeythecat
Caught this itchy lil guy giving himself a bit of relief one morning while out shooting critters. Hummingbirds were all over the place, fighting, jockeying for position at the feeders and in general making a spectacle of themselves...I'd only been there about five minutes when this fella alighted on a branch just a few feet away in order to catch his breath so to speak. I'd never been this close to a wild hummer before and did my best not to scare him off....needless to say he was being quite cooperative while I snapped his picture, even getting comfortable enough to scratch an annoying itch before taking off again. One of my favourite photos.

Hi, it's good of you that you managed to raise your camera and take the picture without disturbing the bird at all. I accept that the blurred branches offer a sense of wilderness, hiding and finding. I normally disapprove serious a lot of manipulation on pictures of the natural environment but I have this unstoppable urge to suggest you to flatten the colour of the eye, erase the light effect completely by turning all of the eye colour into one solid one. Great moment captured and overall image nevertheless.

A good shot. perhaps just a little over-sharpened I think, and loaded mod with a little more contrast, and a little less sharpening.

In this, the eye is closed, so not much you could do with it.
