Oil & Water 1

By Irishkate
Tried some more of these today. Found I don't have an absolutely plain tumbler
hence the ridges but I'm including this as part of a pattern!
Can't get water clear - the washing up liquid seems to leave traces.
Any ideas?
Yesterday's upload of the Reading Lamp and The Books was interesting.
I learned quite a bit from your comments and very helpful advice from Trev.
So January's mission is to go to some Art Galleries and study lighting in The Old Masters.
A few of you thought the light too harsh so I'll need to learn more in that respect.

Some nice tones shapes and colours Kate, the base does become part of the composition, nice one, I know a lot of photographers use food dyes to create shapes and colours.

Nice one Kate - that works really well - don't think the washing up liquid bubbles are a problem - all part of the effect.

The effect looks good, Kate, especially the bi-colours in two of the bubbles. I'm not convinced the geometry of the composition is the best though. Well worth playing with different crops and uploading versions in the future, maybe (oe enabling mods).

Some wonderful advice from Dave Kate. This type of genre takes a great deal of time and practice. I try to use mood-boards or little sketches in order that I can get a better idea of how I want my image to look.

Well well well you got your soapy water look and very nice to.
I like the tones and colours Well done. WesternRed.
I put the Adult status on todays for just a laugh and Jocelia
has hers active so she can not see it, do you know how to take
it off or her putting hers back. I like your soapy look there's
a comic filter but I think your's is best Regards. WesternRed.

never tried it either Kate but it is always fun to try and to learn from it. Try Kelvingrove art Galleries the light on some of the statures and artwork is quite challenging my last uploads of busts and statue came from there

Have fun

My favourite [ and I'm working backwards ] - I like the colours and agree with Dave that a crop might be helpful - I would like to suggest a good slice from the top and a smaller one from the left
