Oil on Water

By tonyheps
Oil on water is something I've been meaning to try for ages. After a failed attempt before Christmas I had another go yesterday using flash lighting to stop the movement and get a reasonably fast shutterspeed.

My first oil on water attempt was similar.

When looking through the viewfinder or live view you can see that there is motion. Oil blobs are merging with others and others are floating around and it seems that it's like the sea all with it's own currents.

I made a cup of tea and waited for around half an hour until everything was still. Smile

Yeah
There's more movement than you would expect. Flash stops any misbehaving bubbles!. Flat plane of focus is troublesome as well!
