Old Dungeness Lighthouse and Round House

By Humblebee
Love this old lighthouse, and think it is so much nicer than the new one, it has so much more character ...

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments and for your votes on my "Among the stacks - One man and his dog".

Yes Nathan I love weather vanes and had I seen this one would have bought it.

It definitely is new Netta, it wasn't there back in October, must have snuck it up when I wasn't looking Wink and

Dave, I have to own up to not seeing the bird until I uploaded the images, so it was just luck that the best shot had the bird visible - it was difficult balancing on the concrete blocks and the wind kept moving the vane back and forth Grin

how unusual!! a black lighthouse. I thought they only painted them black during the war.
the blue sky is a real bonus in this lovely shot.

The black stands out so well against the lovely blue sky.
I see so many images of Dungeness an area I don't know at all
but hadn't seen this lighthouse before. The red chimneys add so much to the scene also.

(How annoying of that weather vane to move in the wind! TongueGrinGrin)

A black lighthouse, how unusual, Carol. And the red chimberleys contrast so well. A lovely clear and bright image.

A beautifully bright and inviting image, one which I have never managed to capture from Dungeness Carol.

This is probably ridiculous, but I've never seen lighthouses with my own eyes ... I'd love, Carol, to touch them with my hands, and to whispered to them: thank you, you saved a lot of lives of sailors ...

Is it my glasses or I spot a bit of rust on the top? Tongue
