Oldtimer tools

By KevinEllison
Not too embarrassed to admit. I used tools like this in my "formative" years..and before that I guess the Cutty Sark and Victory were built with similar weaponry...! imagine adjusting the plane blade cutting depth by bashing it in the right place with a mallet...

Thanks guys...! yes, had a good tutor - my long departed Father used to teach it at college "measure twice cut once son..." etc.
I also could tell which wood was which from the shavings smell...(olden day nurd/anorack in other words..Blush ).

My woodwork teacher was Mr Hawthorn. I became a carpenter and yes the smell of new wood shavings haunts me still.... (olden day....etc)
