On The Tunnel

By arhab
This is an irigation tunnel. A few times in a year because of dam maintenance, the tunnel dried. At this time a lot of people find fish, etc.

This shoot against the sun, so to make it right exposure with iso 200 the shutter spped must go to 1/1000 with f11. the original looks like sephia. So i change it to sephia. I took another shoot with automatic setting, and the camera choose f5 with slower shutter speed. i upload without untouch only resize on mod section.

It's interesting that the people fish here when the dam is maintained, Muhamad, and I like the way you have included the length of the tunnel water.
I appreciate the problems you had with the direction of the sun, but am not overly happy with the sepia that you have added.
The sun's direction has rendered your fisher people in silhouette, and it looks more like a late evening shot. You could have tried some positive exposure compensation here. However, it has come out as quite an atmospheric scene.
The problem is that your fisher people are not very clear. Obviously it would have been good to get closer to them, in particular the nice group that are underneath the bridge.
You have quite a lot of empty space either side, which a simple crop would sort out, so that the main elements, the water and the people, are featured more in the frame.
I have done a modification where I cropped both sides and gave it a square format.
I cloned out a few bits in the water around the people in order for their figures to stand out better.
I removed the sepia toning and went for a simple black and white, then did two other modifications with colour hues added, blue and gold, perhaps daytime and evening?
I quite like your other version, especially the cyclist on the bridge.
Pamela.

This has grown on me after several views.

That figure in the foreground grabs your attention as do the other figures.

There are technical issues that can be rescued to a degree.

Should the opportunity arise it would be well worth while taking more shots noting how the light is reflecting off the water that can fool even the best of camera meters.

I have done a mod using some tweaks in LR4 squeezing what detail there is in the background at the top half of the frame.

thank you Ken, i wonder how you can find this image since i upload this a few months back. what you had done with the dark background is incredible. my post processing competence is far away from you...
