One Horned Rhino

By Paul_Barr
Shot of a One Horned Rhino taken at Chitwan National Park in Nepal. Chitwan is a world heritage site and hosts a great variety of wildlife including Bengal Tigers, Gharial Crocodiles and the Rhinos.

The Rhinos are still under threat due to habitat loss and poaching as their horns are used in traditional Asian medicines. Chitwan is an important refuge for these animals.

This shot was taken during an early morning elephant safari and was taken from on top of a moving elephant. We got pretty close to 2 Rhinos in the water hole and they ran into the long grass when they saw us. This one is fitted with a radio collar so that it can be tracked.

1/500th Sec @ F5.6. ISO 200. 200mm focal length.

Thanks,

Paul

Great splashing action Paul, wonderful to see in the wild and not in a Zoo. You were close at 200mm.
