One of a kind MG

By AndyD999
I was helping out a guy who takes photos of cars for a living the other day! And got the chance to take a few myself. This is a picture of a one of a kind MG in this country.

I have used photoshop to really bring down the colour in the sky to make it more moody and then added a touch of brightness and vibrance to the car. I added a slight bit of contrast to the wall and surrounding floor.

Love to know what you think

Andy

Like it, works well with the wall.

Nice idea, well shot. Not sure you need to make the sky "moody", but I think it's a standard 'car mag' shot. My little gripe is the door behind the car attracts my attention. If you could move a little to the left, you would lose the door and have uniform wall, with no distractions from the car itself.
Maybe you could have moved round to light the side nearer the camera, and make more of the paint colour, but it may not have been possible due to the surroundings.

I might have taken the dangly thing from the mirror and the tax disc off too.

I would say the older MG's are more of a British icon, rather than the more modern day cars. I'm afraid the more modern MG models were unreliable, poor build quality and the soft-tops should not have bothered putting the soft-top up when it rained, as it let more water in when it was up! And some people wonder why we don't have a healthy British car manufacturing industry left. Anyway, I did a mod for you with more of a retro look of times gone bye, to try and bring back a little glamour to a once British iconic figure that us Brits were once proud of. I put the image into Photoshop camera raw, used the graduated filter with -0.95 exposure, +33 contrast, -41 highlights, +73 shadows, +39 clarity and 25 saturation. I opened it up in PS, colourised the image with an orange effect. Gave it a vignette, plus and orange tinge on top of the vignette. Hope you like it.

Its a good shot as is Andy, and really all you do is look at variations on what youve done. I like the angle, though DaveB has loaded a nice mod wit it straight. In face I think I would angle the shot even more, as it tends to ad that dynamic feel to the image.

The bane of car shots are reflections, and they really cant be eliminated unless shout under a cover. Theyre not too bad here, though decreasing the highlights overall using the shadow/highlight tool will reduce the glare, and increase the colour density.

So simple mod, tilted more, reduced highlights.

Thanks guys.

I agree with what you say about the car. Like i said i was helping a guy out who does it for a living so the choice of car was unavoidable.

Hopefully next time he asks me it will be a Ferrari!!
