One Ring To Stop.....

By pamelajean
........Two Rings To Go ! How many of you remember that?
“Push Once” was an instruction for passengers. Only the conductor could push twice for the driver to go.

Taken whilst riding on the 1959 Leyland Tiger Cub last year, on a Bus Running Day by Friends of King Alfred Buses in Winchester.
Two ladies wish to alight (see the version) and the conductor rings the bell.

It took several frustrating attempts to get someone in the mirror alighting and the conductor’s hand on the bell, which could only be captured whilst the bus was stationary.

Many thanks to all those very generous people who took time to award, vote and comment on my Queueing Gnomes, and I am pleased to say that their makeovers are now in hand.
I also thank you for your interest in my Leaves series, which I’ve now finished.

Definitely remember it, and the chrome upright hand poles, and the feel of the faux velvet seats 🙂

I don't remember the bell being pushed twice but I do remember the running line along the side of the ceiling which was pulled once or twice.

Yes, I remember that well, those were the days! 😃 And if you were waiting to alight the bus and it stopped at traffic lights, you could jump off - none of this health & safety in those days, and having to wait for the doors to open to let you off 😁 I also remember, as Dave says, there was also a cord running the length of the ceiling which you could grab and tug on to ring the bell 👍Two very well framed shots here Pamela, like both, but think the hand pushing the button works well 😃
Take care, and stay well,
Trev 😀

Well timed and captured - loved the older style buses, we would cram on the platform going to and from school!
