Only way up

By MsZombee
This was taken on the way up to Table Mountain.

I'm not sure it's as sharp as I would like? It was a foggy day. In fact we were lucky to get a view at all. Any ideas or suggestions on how this could be improved? I have simply added a filter from Analog Efex Pro 2. This has given more detail to the sea behind the mountain which I wanted.

The sharpness looks ok here. Certainly the well lit foreground is fine.

You mention a foggy day. The middle and far distance are both subject to haze, and added to the fact you're shooting through glass/perspex which has a softening effect you're always going to struggle with detail, or at least mid-tone contrast.

Trying various filters is worth it, at least you'll find out if they're useful or not. Make sure you experiment with the sliders, though.

I'm not sure how much the filter you applied may have affected the colours, but this has the look of a shot taken in hazy conditions in the mountains so my mod reduces the blue/cyan content.

As Kith says, on all counts.

It woudl be good to see the original - there are some basic things that can improve a shot-through-perspex in haze image. worth trying these first, before adding effects filters - though these are often great fun, and can be (dare I say) effective!
