During my travels after attending the Open Canoe Festival we drove through at place called Oradour-sur-Glane. If like myself you have never heard of the place, read on.

On 10 June 1944, the idylic French village of Oradour-sur-Glane was completely destroyed and 642 innocent men, women and children were massacred by soldiers in Hitler's elite Waffen-SS army. The ruins of the martyred village have been preserved as a reminder.

A strange place to walk through and I felt a little uneasy taking images. you can walk the entire length of the village street, the tram tracks and lines are still intact and the belongings of the people who were massacred are scattered about the area.
