Oranges and Thorns

Oranges and Thorns

An Orange tree grows in our lower garden--- producing golf ball size oranges. As the oranges turn yellow and the leaves turn yellow, the tree becomes a stunning sight----All the rest is thorns ! The oranges are inedible and produce thousands of seeds, all viable---they must be gathered and dumped!

This tree was once useful as a living fence--a way to keep the cows out of the creek, etc. George Washington kept a hedge of said at Mt. Vernon. We grow it as a specimen tree and cope!

OH--- the birds navigate the branches well--They love this tree!

Thank you to Pete for his award for the garage--- which is part of the "Cherry Red" workshop!

That is so cool wonder what zone you garden in? Had no idea PA could grow an orange tree, or maybe it`s just your green thumb Jenn
Cheers walt
