Osterley Park

By Karuma1970
We are lucky to have Osterley Park just across the road from where we live and it has been a life-saver during the pandemic. The house itself was originally built in 1576 but the current building was designed by Robert Adam in 1761. Over the last few decades the grounds have been returned to how they would have looked at around that time.
The Robert Adam interior rooms are magnificent and have been used in dozens of films such as Young Victoria, Great Expectations, Belle, Miss Potter, Rebecca and surprisingly The Dark Knight Rises. Even the stables (now a coffee shop) have been used in Mansfield Park and the TV adaptation of Ford Maddox Fordís Parade's End.
The Home Guard, which is the theme of the TV series Dad's Army, started in Osterley Park in 1940 when Britain stood alone and expected invasion. It seems strange when we go for our morning walk to think that 80 years ago local people were being taught how to make Molotov cocktails and string wire across the roads where I'm stopping to take a photos of damsel flies.

Excellent use of the branches to give the curtain effect. Always evokes a sense of stealing a peek at something,
