Our Griffon Vultures

By PatriciaWilson
Anyone who has stayed in my guest house will know the Griffon vultures rise from the gorge below to the plateau above, every day. A couple of weeks ago a dead sheep just below our village church brought the local colony, some with 2.5 mtr wingspan. Berty and I counted a total of sixty two vultures. Amiras, Viannos, Heraklion, Crete, Greece.
I was well excited!

V1 2 images put together.
V2 our village church, taken from our house showing the land below where the birds were feeding on the dead sheep.
V3 the Arvi gorge, from my garden, where one of the local colonies resides.

I was thinking, Ade, next time you come over I'll ask the shepherd if he has any sheep on their last legs. I've some shots of his (the shepherd's) grandchildren... seems like a deal, nippers for old ewes... what do you think?

V1 is a real belter, Patricia...well combined. Even though we see that superb face well, what a shame about the branches (not that you could do anything about them, of course).
