Oh Mavis,she does look a rather stern Granny here with that carpet beater in her hand.I can remember as a kid my Granny beating the carpets in the back green,but she never used it on me as I was too nice.I was always nice to her,otherwise I would not have got my pocket money of her.I used to get the old thruppeny bit which got me a penny whopper,a penny dainty and four sports mixtures.I liked it when she came to my house to visit.My Mother always got some cream buns in,which was the only time we had them.She also got some Anchor butter for the scones,which was a change from the Stork Margarine we usually had.That advert on the the telly was a load of rubbish where they said they could not tell the difference between Stork and Butter.I could tell the difference no bother at all.Mind you,when things got really tight,we had to make do with Echo margarine.That stuff was disgusting I can tell you.I used to put sugar on my piece to take away the taste.So I was doing jiggery pokery all these years ago,so don't tell your Granny how to suck eggs !!
