Your conversion to B&W works very nicely here. However, I'd be hard pressed to choose between the two versions.

Lovely pose, eye contact. V1 is rather a subdued colour, - so it works better for me that the V2, - seems to suit the mood. Perhaps a light toning of the mono with a similar tone to the background in V1 is worth a try.

What an angelic young face. She's posing in quite a grown up way and the socks and red tutu are really funky but she's maintained an innocent inscruitability which is so impressive and unselfconscious. Exquisite in colour. The mono is beautiful as well but it's a shame to lose all that wonderful colour.

Quote:Perhaps a light toning of the mono

Thanks Willie but I'm just trying to get to grips with Mono...don't start asking me to tone it too,heck....I'm old you know !! Wink..one step at a time for me Wink

I know Chris,my thoughts too but I do have to sort myself out with B&W it has been a thorn in my side for a while now & I need to get going with them for Camera Club.

Thanks guys.

Has to be the colour for me.

Using a gradient map black over white will add tone and preserve details.

Another vote for the colour version as I think the mono appears a touch flat.

Try mono with a less appealing picture Janet. That way we won't all be distracted by the beauty of the subject. Perhaps and old watering can or something. Smile

Great pose and poise no doubt also.
I do love the colour version but it works well in mono too.
I'm always struggling to come up with good mono for CC competitions.
