Paddling at Padley

By MrsS
Are you sitting comfortably - - - - - - Wink

Toddled off to the Peaks meet (organised by Chuff- - thanks again!) on Friday, and took along my new toys - - a Lee filter kit, a very expensive B+W polariser, and a pair of not so expensive blue wellies!

The sunset (?) at Stanage left something to be desired and likewise the sunrise (?) at Curbar, but the company was good and I did get chance to try out the filters so all was not lost!

After a fabulous and very welcome bacon butty (Thanks Jas) we wandered around Baslow Edge for a while and then went off to have lunch at the Pool Cafe at 10.30am! (We had been up at least 6 hours by then!)

Then the Frantastic Five (sut68, Tandberg, Kinell, Mattwaggie and lil ole me) descended on Padley!

The Wellies were gr8!!! I did, however, discover that polarisers can neither float nor swim!!!

This shot was taken mid-stream after the swimming lesson - so I think it's survived ok!! (PHEW!)

Like the colour of the rocks (right fg) and the contrast with the green leaves. the little gold circle in the middle of the water is the end of a stick poking out - - and I've left it in cos it looks golden in the LARGE version. Smile

Done very little with this - processed RAW in C1LE then cropped in CS2 Smile

15sec @f22 ISO100 focal length 18mm B+W polariser

Thanks for taking the time to look - - as always, I really appreciate ur comments if you do have a few moments - - have a gr8 Sunday, whatever you get up to Smile

Can I just apologise for not being around much over the last few days, and today looks like being just as busy - - will try to catch up later Smile
Just off to pick up the dog from the kennels - - then off out to lunch with my friend Smile

So this is where you lot were hiding. Glad to see you enjoyed yourselves. Nice shot Fran, I do like how you have composed this one. Only thing I not too sure about if you don't mind me saying is that 'blob' in the middle of the milky water, I know it a part of but just distracts a little. Doesn't seem part of the shot if I may say.

I like your presentation on this one too Fran, very good indeed.

Really looking forward to seeing more.

Sorry Fran - I don't like your gold disc in the centre......I find it very distracting - so I took it out (along with the twig top rightto improve the flow).

But the rest of it is super

Roy idea why there are 3 modifications - may have been something to do with aninteruption in my wireless connection

The coin has been mentioned Smile.....but otherwise a fine image of Padley. Good to see you got something from your visit, you haven't had the best luck of late.

Good to meet you and Paul again, hopefully the next time will be in glorious conditions Smile

So this is why you were lurking under that wooden bridge for so long..(probably coupled with rescuing very costly bits of glass from the deep...).
Nice, rustic and moody Fran, prefer the 'gold spot' to be removed - too distracting..

Lovely shot Fran, with great saturated colours. Love it.

It was nice to meet you, albeit very briefly, on Baslow Edge yesterday morning. Shame you missed the Germans!

I can see what people mean about the stick (top rt) & the twig (pokin' out). I agree about the stick but the twig can stay IMHO.

Good to see you agin Fran!
