padlock

By joseluissc
This was captured on a fishing village called "Vila Chã".
That's a old door of a warehouse
My challenge here is bring the detail...
Every images have the same amount of sharpening.
I think this is a good image to tell us that contrast is not always good. I like the lower contras samples like this one.

I am sure you are right Jose Luis that upping the contrast is not always a good idea. It should not be done automatically but for a reason.

With your shot it does not work particularly well as the range of tones in the pic is limited. All it has done is darken the pic and the gate has become overpowering. To work well it helps to have a range of dark and light tones so the difference between the dark and the light is more apparent.

I do find though with your shot which you have called "padlock" that the padlock gets a bit lost against the gate. I have boosted the saturation a bit (25%) so that the padlock stands out a bit more against the background.

Incidentally you can upload various versions of your shot without uploading them as mods. There is guidance on how to do it in the FAQs (under the Ephotozine navigation button above) in the gallery section.

Thank you for your advice, Catherine.

Follow your instructions, and the faq, I couldn't find the right link on side of "edit" and "delete"-
This is done by my limit to one daily upload?
If so, I don't see a great advantage : -(... now that I have more five versions on my new upload "dead cork oak (ec01)"

back to padlock, I'll try to use a layer mask to saturate both the padlock and the wire / cord (green)

thanks again,
jl
