By Kako
Currently under restoration, the Palace dates originally to around the 13th century, part of the Byzantine empire near ancient Sparta that was known as the Despotate of Morea.

The site now has UNESCO World Heritage status.

Hi Dave,

No, happened to find this spot further up the hill looking down on the palace. Much higher up was the ultimate fortified position...the last ditch bolt hole. Really great place and luckily not very busy...dozens of tourists wandering over a large site...had it been in Western Europe there would have been hundreds...although it was very hot.

Thanks for your positive comment.

Regards

Karlo
