Partial Eclipse

By Trevhas
This is a blend of two images taken with the same lens and focal length but one was vastly underexposed to gain detail in the sun.

It was time to settle down and find a suitable comp that summed up Mormon Row for me.

Everyone seemed to have taken up their protected positions early, huddled further away in small groups. I had to get in close because of the height of the sun and using a W/A enabled me to keep distance between roof and sun to a minimum. One chap was sat on a log in a perfect position, on the front row, so introduced myself and shared his shadowy profile, keeping our heads down so togs who had staked their claims hours ago wouldn't be too miffed about the late newbie gate crashing the scene.
He had two cameras, two tripods set up with a w/a and zoom and was going to use photoshopy wizardry to capture the different stages of eclipse with the zoom, superimposed with the W/A image of the barn.

Me, i was ........... what am i doing here ??? my plan was to concentrate on the landscape, barn in foreground, mountains ten miles away, large expanse of flat ground in-between, wait for shadow to move across during totality, concentrate on weird light on landscape, bingo, job done !! ......... or so i thought .
I'm facing the wrong way !!!!!

Instead I'm sat on a log mesmerised by the beauty and eerie silence broken only by the periodic bleeps of Eclipse phone apps counting down the seconds to the next stage. Smile

MAGIC !!! SmileSmileSmile

Many thanks Kurt for your kind UA on my last upload ,very much appreciated mate Smile
