Hi;

focus on the man on the left and the woman on the right, just these two.

crop all others out.

Two people going two different and separate ways. The contrast is not only on the direction but on the sexes as well.

Man vs Woman or Woman vs Man.

The way you can improve an image is to have something specific on your mind that you would like to photograph.
If you had set up in your mind a pic of a man and a woman going separate ways, you might had not need to ask for feedback;
you'd know from instinct. Train your instinct. Be alert to anticipate an image. Rain near petrol station? Oil patterns on water.
Watching footie with friends? Gestures and facial expressions.

Leave the guy with the shorts in, he's an optimist, thinks its summer.

I do like this and the juxtaposition of the two dominant characters as well as the chap strolling in the rain in his shorts in the background. This is a good street shot and almost great but for me needs a different processing and crop.

Firstly the processing. It is a marmite style using a HDR effect and too often overdone which I feel it is here. There is an unnatural glow to the picture as a result and I think this would be stronger with a softer treatment. The film grain style I don't mind so much but coupled with the tone mapping it's just turned this a bit cartoony. The grain adds a bit of grit to the scene but I would want to see and play with the original file before committing to this too.

The framing can be sometimes difficult if working on the hoof. Seeing a picture and capturing it before the moment has gone is a street photographers game and occassionally has it's pitfalls when you haven't had time to frame all the elements exactly. Where possible this can be amended in processing but only if you are wide enough to crop in.

I feel the ladies on the far right add nothing as well as the piece of street furniture that is just creeping into that right edge. Removing them leaves a balance of 3 people and the guy strolling in his shorts in the rain gives an added dimension to the two other people. On the left side we have no space with the guy looking out of frame. It feels like it should have more here.

I have done a mod to illustrate the crop and added canvas roughly to demonstrate the additional space I would look for on the left. I have reduced contrast a little too.

Nonetheless this is another good street image which is clearly a strength of yours. A little tweaking in processing and not being so heavy with the effect should make for a stronger picture.

Hope that helps.

Paul

Basically a good street shot but , even by your standards, the processing is so overdone. All mid grey and patchy. I'm not sure how you do this but it does look the the worst of HDR.

You get some great scenes, then over process.

its a good scene may pull back a tad on the HDR but keep some
