Passing Through

By pennyspike
Next one in the series 'Snorkeller's World'
This time it's the time when a shoal of Powder Blue Surgeonfish swam towards me. This doesn't happen too often as they will usually swim away from you or past you.
The seaplane is just the other side of the reef and isn't going to part my hair, although we are quite close. I've cloned out the landing stage.
Doing this series of pictures has taken me back to a very favourite place and activity. Pure indulgence! Thanks for sharing them with me.

What a great image. I especially love the mid point where the water has distorted the colours of the fish.

Thanks for comments.
Conrad, snorkelling in the safety of the lagoon is possible for the weakest swimmer. You can find plenty to see even in the shallows.
We've helped many a nervous snorkeller to overcome their fears. People keep asking us how we see more than they do, the answer is simple we spend many more hours looking.

Nice work Penny. I like the parrotfish that's lurking amidst the school of powder blues! You're right, unless they're feeding and gathered around a coral bommie it's pretty hard to get them swimming head on to you. Well done with the half-half and keep up the 'indulgence' Wink

I'm in the water for all of it Anne. I use a dslr in a Ewa marine bag and take top and bottom separately. It works because it is the view I see while swimming. The difficult bit is blending the two images to maintain the realistic view.
Some of the other pics in the series have a few more details. I've now put them into an album if you care to take a look.
Thanks for your comment.
