PASTEL SUNRISE

By pottie
I am trying my hand at landscape so please i need all the help I can get.
This is Korinkorrelbaai, Namaqua National Park in the far Northern Cape, South Africa. We were the only people for miles and I know that there is no strong subject, but the colours was just awesome!

Yes, strikimg colurs. I think, without an anchor subject, I would make is more dramatic. Increase contrast, panorama crop, as in the mod.

Love this shot, that sky is amazing!
I've had a go at a mod, although it's already great as it is. I've darkened the sky on the left as there is a brighter area on the edge of the frame which was drawing my eye left a bit. Also increased contrast a little in the sky, tried to bring out the colours a bit more and brightened the foreground slightly. Cropped off the right to put a bit more emphasis on the sea.
It might have been interesting to see a bit more in the foreground to give a bit more depth and lead you into the scene. For example, getting closer to the sea or getting down to that area of wet sand to get some reflections of the sky. Although, the way you have framed it puts more emphasis on the sky, which does work well.

Good to see you back in the Critique Gallery, Issi.

Who wouldn't want to capture these sunrise colours? And, when you really want one, there is often a lack of foreground interest.

I've done a modification where I adjusted the contrast to get the black of the line of land darker, a little more definition in the couds, and a touch more colour on the shore.
But I couldn't resist doing a second modification and importing a little boat that I found on the internetSmile.

Willie's suggestion is the most practical one, and his mod makes the colours sing. Fortissimo!

Thanks Tom, I do like what you did.... thanks for taking the time.
Spkr51 Thanks!
Pamela, I had to laugh.... this place is so remote and in the desert, that the only thing on the beach are animal footprints! But it just shows what difference an subject makes! Thanks !!!
Thanks Dudler, and I think i do agree with you
