Patent stupidity?

By dudler
This is the Patent Etui camera I used (many years ago) to take the Film Friday image that I posted this week.

I'd borrowed a lightbox to copy some lantern slides for my sister (a Warne and Co publicity show for Peter Rabbit from the Twenties or Thirties), and decided to us that to shoot the camera. The background is a cluttered desk, but actually looks reasonable (rather than horribly, untidily cluttered, which it is, in fact).

It's a rather lovely piece of lightweight engineering. Carrying glass plates in single holders adds massively to the total. Maybe it's a good thing that you can't get plates any longer?

For all-round silliness, the second shot is of American wrestler Su Yung getting ready for in a tag match on Friday evening at Rushall Labour Club. I wouldn't dare call her silly - but shooting at superhigh ISO probably is...

Well, I like the camera - not sure about the girl; she looks frightening, but once she peels off the make-up and hair etc we'll find that she's very sweet. Or maybe not GrinGrinGrin

Nev -

After her match, she was signing pictures for fans, and seemed to be charming with all of them! I have the strong feelign that the vast majority of professional wrestlers are people who love to entertain and make people happy: even the villains (otherwise knows as 'heels')...

A lovely piece of engineering John and a beautiful object.(the camera not the wrestler)
Su Yung looks like a nice friendly lass but i get nervous around beautiful women who
can levitate, an excellent candidate for silly Sunday though SmileSmileSmile

Lovely old cameras, I had a maroon coloured version until recently. Very sharp images. Zeiss lens usually. They look very slim and neat folded up. Kamera Werkstatten in Germany who made them were an ingenious company.

My father had one of these cameras and it's somewhere in the house in Cyprus now. I must get it when I go there for a visit. Good clear picture!

I really like the way you've shot this on the lightbox (I still have a couple 'left over' from my film days and have used them for some shots since.

The particular girl, as shown in the ring, does not inspire me; instead, the camera deserves much attention and exploration, is a piece of art, John!
