Path

By Nabs
A dusky foggy evening in Coorg, Karnataka in India in December 2012...The colours of path flowers attracted me to take the snap.....one of my favorite shot.

This is a rather attractive well composed image. At first sight it seems a bit grainy and not terribly crisp. However, and I don't say this very often, it doesn't seem to detract here.

Nicely done.

i agree with Paul, the colour balance isnt the best, the overall image is grainy but i like the effect and it dosnt matter.
it has a very moody etherial feel, nice image

Very atmospheric, nice lead in from the path..I just wish it wasn't purple.Perhaps a bit of an adjustment with the colour balance would help on a separate layer mask, leave the rest as is & have a go with just the path.
I do lake that atmospheric blue haze against the trees.

I like the top half of the shot, lovely blue/grainy effect on the trees, but not so keen on the bottom gives me a feeling of a awful wet autumn day.

It's more difficult to critique a picture, Nabarun, when you say that it's one of your favourites.
You don't say whether or not you have done any editing to the image, and we don't have any camera settings to help either.
Grain or noise is generally something to be avoided or to be removed. Some photographers will use it creatively, especially in black and white pictures. It was foggy and dark beneath the trees, and you may have set your ISO quite high to compensate. Under such circumstances, often a compromise has to be made. However, using a tripod means that you can better cope with slower shutter speeds without having to increase the ISO so much. Noise can also be introduced in an underexposed image that is lifted in software.
I agree with the above comments, and there is an attractive atmosphere here, created by the background light and strength of the tree trunks. You have placed the right side of the path neatly into the bottom right corner, which is good. The noise is tending to add to the mood, too. Your composition is good, leading the eye through the image and around the bend.
As to the colour, I wonder if that was your intention. Although it's not natural, it does have an appeal. I am wondering what White Balance setting you had at the time. It might be worth checking. However, you don't always have to adjust your white balance - some photographers like the unusual look which not adjusting the white balance correctly gives them. Capturing shots with the right colour temperature (white balance) is something that's important the majority of the time. But there will be occasions when using the wrong preset, or making adjustments in post production, will help to and make some shots more interesting. For instance, blue tones can emphasise the coolness of a winter scene like this..
For these reasons, I very much favour the mono modification that has been done, something you may not have considered.
Pamela.
