"Paths/Steps/Roads"

By jamestheboy
This is my picture for the competition I hope you like it I did not have much time to go looking for something really good I took this picture last weekend. I think I have all three in this picture a road and a path and the steps over the fence This picture was not my best choice but the weather is bad so I have to go with it. I wish everyone in the competition the best of luck……..james

Here are the judges thoughts. Yet again you made our job really difficult and it was wonderful to see so many fabulous interpretations of the theme. Congratulations to the winners, but also to everyone who entered, we really have enjoyed looking at ALL the entries. Good luck to you all for the next one - the XMAS BIGGY! (more details about that later)

Foxtolbot- Lovely dynamic shot, adding a sense of speed and fits the theme perfectly.

Davidc123- Clever processing, well done, although the theme is a bit lost in all that cool groove!

RhysherbertPhotography – Very inventive, great use of selective colour to highlight the arranged leaves which suggest road markings shows great imagination as well.

Marco_Delvalle1- Expertly composed, converting to mono and balancing the figures with the steps shows a great creative eye.

Motosport pictures – Well done for getting so close! Maybe the car dominates this bit too much for the brief of roads/steps/paths though. A very good picture though.

Jamestheboy – what a striking image, and although you could have chosen any part of the theme, you managed to include them all! Well done.

Littlejennywren – what a great find , those steps to the autumn path are lovely, really makes us wonder what lies beyond.

Bethmn- a bold and well composed image, does what it says on the tin, nice to see a path which reaches its destination.

Uboat – goodness that looks chilly! But your description as well as the footsteps puts this as a strong contender for the competition, very well done. Just goes to show that we create paths wherever we go.

Jonah794- getting good light trails like that isn’t easy , so good to see the technique applied well. Paths on a raod too, reminds us the speed at which we head along life's paths these days too.

Gardner- made us smile that one ! good to see a low angle as well. We liked the movement on the front paw too.

Kilo watt- very good, a path with meaning in the picture, clever study this one, we really liked the contrast of the groups of walkers against all that greenery.

Hamrogers. Fantastic, treatment and mood here. A close study of steps shows that a theme can be taken from lots of different perspectives. We loved the air of mystery created here, and the fact that whilst we would love to ascend those stairs, we would be doing so with great intrepidation. A very worthy winner!

Lukeparkinson- The Bluebell path! What a great walk that must have been, so colourful and perfect for the theme, makes us long to get away from these dark nights and back to warmer times, you can almost smell the bluebells.

Supershot101 - another inventive shot combining both the theme and the night all in one picture. Very good leading path to the light as well.

Nutsaboutminis-Great to think out of the box like that. Very clever use of unusual rotation. Looked like the side of a ship until you tilt your head and see the path!

Missv-excellent! Very good how you timed the person on the path running to the distance.

Once again - congrats everyone - a super high standard, which is just what we have come to expect from you all

I did not expect this to come in second place I was not happy with this picture I almost did not enter it anyway I glad I did now. I have looked at all the pictures in the competition I think they are all good. I hope this does not make me a professional photographer now I only have a pocket camera I just like to say something about the photograph which I think is a little bit funny being I only have a pocket camera I took about 12 pictures I wanted to capture the car in the right spot but the trouble is my camera when you press the button it takes about two seconds for the picture to be taken so every time I took the picture where I think the car would be it wasn’t any way in the end I managed to capture it. I’d like to thank everybody who voted for it and special thanks to all the judges for voting by picture in second place……..james
