A beautiful moment caught.

There's something a little flat about the processing, and the crop on the left is very tight - but this is excellent in all other ways. Settings are sound.

Later - I've done a mod. I wonder quite what processing you did on the image: it would be good if you could upload the unprocessed original as your own mod.

Its a lovely moment.

I agree, it seems washed out, another term for flat.

If you upload the original before you made changes in Elements, if you have it, we may be able to tell if its the original, or the processing. Upload it here, click the Modifications button, then upload the original.

In the interim, I had a god at giving it a bit more "pop", with adjustments to white balance, black level, exposure, contrast.

As above. A fine image of the type I like and shoot myself. It is just a touch flat as above. Ad a little brightness and contrast.

A lovely moment well caught, showing the interaction between those three characters.

Well timed, which is the key thing.
A flat look can easily be sorted (whereas a missed moment can't be).
Nice and tightly framed. Was this what you shot or did you crop the original capture?
