Peaks People 1

By woolybill1
The week's titles refer to our recent holiday in the Peak District, sharing a house there with our good friends Mr and Mrs saltireblue. We ventured outside that precise geographical area for a while too.

Today's image was obtained on Curbar Edge, looking back towards the car park. The fellow in yellow is not about to take a leap into oblivion, he's taking in the rope from someone climbing the rock face below. Atmospheric mist is greatly enhanced by the equivalent of a 400mm lens, only to be slightly reduced in PS.

Thanks once again for all visits to my last mono series, and to Dave and Graham for their cherished awards yesterday Smile

i was a little worried about the hunchback sea outline but then i checked the map and was relieved to find no sea in the vicinity
if this is what they call Stanage Edge, it must be "the largest of the gritstone edges that overlook Hathersage in Derbyshire, stretching for approximately 6km. This large and impressive destination is extremely popular throughout the year for climbers and walkers who like to embark on the challenging rock climbs and to enjoy the picturesque views across the surrounding moors and countryside."

Curbar Edge is a few km south of Stanage, above the village of Calver, and offers easier access and presumably easier climbs! The walk along the top is very popular; when we left the car park several cars were vying for the space we had vacated.

Knowing what you have up your sleeve from this location, what I found most interesting was the juxtaposition between the different groups of people we were observing.

A shifty looking bunch on top Bill. Look like they're up to no good.
Eyeing up the other couples picnic by the looks of it.
I calibrated my monitor yesterday, seems to have buggered it up,
I thought i saw 'yellow' in your image...very strange SmileSmile

If only there was a car park at the top of Ben Nevis! What is that lady pointing at?and why are the dodgy folks up top not looking at it! Interesting shot Bill, very good.

The people look rather toy-like against the ancient rocks
