High Street, Peebles, after the rain.

"Nestled within an area of outstanding beauty and only 23 miles south of Edinburgh, the Borders town of Peebles sits straddling the majestic River Tweed.
But the world famous salmon fishing river - Peebles motto is "Against the stream they multiply" - is only one of the many treasures on offer to visitors.
A Royal Burgh since 1152 and the rule of King David I, Peebles has for many years been a market town cherished by locals and visitors alike for its picturesque and unspoilt character.".
I was going to say, one of several things I like about Peebles is that it has an abundance of local independent retail shops, and I just read the following, "Peebles also has the distinction of being ranked as the Top Independent Retailing Town in Scotland, and second in the UK, for its range of independent shops and 'home town' identity in contrast to the ubiquitous 'cloned towns' predominant in other areas.", so it is even better than I thought. Definitely not a town for the globalists, lol.

In the same village where the Laughlin Mill resides, there seems to be a record and grave marker for a Captain Alexander Peebles----Captain of a Revolutionary War company based in Hopewell Township--in what later became part of Pennsylvania. etc. etc., etc.

It seem that I live in Hopewell Township. Very close to home---Maybe!

This is a VERY pleasing place of beauty. Seems well planned by wise people and looks so inviting. TG
