This contribution to the landscapes-in-autumn season was taken only a couple of minutes after Not Like That! posted a couple of days ago. The figure is of course Mrswoolybill, aka Moira, looking for ducklings on the river Wear, no doubt mentally calculating the ratio simply expressed as

size of duckling : capacity of oven.

It was a grey morning, the ducklings were well camouflaged and too far away, so my duck dinner will have to wait........

Now let me give you the truth - I was actually waiting for the rowers to head for a particularly attractive patch of reflections. But they didn't. So I gave up.

Beautiful shot with lovely light and composition Bill. Maybe you should tell Moira that a shotgun is more effective in getting a duck into the oven than a Nikon, even though both involve shooting.

A good autumnal woodland scene Bill, the positioning of Moira gives balance to the foreground tree trunk.

I love this. The autumn colors are wonderful. I agree with Ty that Moira placed in the shot shows the great scale of the place.

Good blast of Autumn colour here, Bill. Not sure the mid grey background shows it off to its best advantage though.

Hello Bill.
I like the way you have used the tree and branch as a frame.
Lovely light and colour.

Great range of tones here Bill.Love the carpet of leaves and the highlights in the water. The rowers must have done a U-turn when they saw Moira. ''it's that flippin woman again'', I hear them cry. A good capture Bill.

Well despite being a 'grey day' you've certainly caught some lovely colour and tones in here Bill. Interesting sense of scale too. so that's Moira the pixey then...

like the frame effect, I would have considered airbrushing the Mrs out, but then that may create a few marital problems so you did the right thing. Nice shot and colours

Artistic hyperbole on my part, Bernie. Seen from above, there were ducks on the water just behind the tree on the right. A good racing line would have taken the boats right through them!
