A favourite theme of mine. Old luggage carries so many personal histories.
Thanks for looking,

A wonderful colour combination. As far it being an item of baggage I'm glad that you said. At first I thought it was a section of an old bus.

Great colours and a nice presentation, a real travellers chest that one.
Would that be a portmanteau or have i got the wrong type of luggage in mind?

A portmanteau (a coat-carrier), long time since I heard that word...
This is a trunk, quite a large item. From the days when a porter carried your luggage for you. Days before cabin luggage restrictions...
Cheers, folks.

Aha, the old painted tin trunk, just big enough to hide a body inTongue!
I remember these well from my days in the antiques trade, the flat-topped versions being more popular than the dome-topped ones, you couldn't easily sit on a dome top.
I wanted one as a laundry "basket" (the unwashed type) for the bedroom, but couldn't find one anywhere. They're great for storing bed linen, too.
Nice bit of close detail, Moira, and I have to admit that the thumbnail suggested something larger.
