I quite like crystals, and this is one of them, a phantom quartz polished point.
Quite bored, i decided to take some photographs of my crystals, and found the best way to illuminate one of my quartz points was from underneath, with the light directly under the crystal itself. The light is actually an LED from an iphone, the crystal is sitting on top, kinda works well, and the use of the phone is not so obvious.
This quartz has 12 phantoms that i can count, there may be many more if viewed under a microscope, something i do not currently own. The phantoms are caused when the crystal stops growing, and another mineral begins growing on top, usually chlorite, but then for some reason the quartz will resume growing again, and so on.
